Course descripton

This is the direct 4 days path to the Kanban Management Professional credential granted by the Lean Kanban University (LKU). It includes the Kanban System Design (KMP I) course immediately followed by the Kanban Management Professional (KMP II) training. The participants for all 4 days receive additional €200 discount.

Learning objectives

At the end of the class the participants will:

  • Receive in-depth knowledge about the Kanban Method concepts, principles and practices
  • Acquire skills to ignite the change with the Kanban Method in their organization the next day
  • Learn how to design a Kanban System, including options of board design, visualization, imposing WIP limits, set up and interpretation of indicators like Cumulative Flow Diagram and Control Chart
  • Understand basic concepts of work flow creation, pull systems, and collaborative improvement
  • Obtain the expertise to establish predictable Service Level Agreements to serve the customers better
  • Understand how to improve the morale and productivity of their teams by removing overburdening, unnecessary work and giving the team members the opportunity to show acts of leadership on all levels of organization
  • Experience in practice how to use Kanban to improve capabilities of your organization, e.g. shorter and more predictable delivery times, better risk management, increased trust and continuous improvement
  • Deepen Kanban knowledge to manage, sustain and scale evolutionary improvements in their organization
  • Acquire skills to avoid emotional objections to changes in general, and to Kanban WIP limits introduction in particular
  • Learn how to forecast single and multiple work items (releases, sprints) and be able to answer the questions like "When will the work be finished?" with accurate predictability instead of "guestimation"
  • Study a successfull real life example of sequence of evolutionary changes in an organisation from Scrum via Proto-Kanban to full Lean Kanban pull system implementation
  • Be able to build and interpret the Lead Time Histogram, and make conscious data driven decisions basing on actual information
  • Enabled by seven Kanban cadences, be able to introduce continuous learning and improvement process by implementing organizational feedback loops
  • Understand how to make prioritization, sequencing and scheduling decisions based on economic factors instead of hunches
  • Comprehend the similarities and differences between the concepts of bottleneck capacity constrained and non instant availability resources, and optimal management strategies for those resources
  • Familiarize with Kanban Risk Management approaches, service orientation, asymmetrical commitment, and rollout phases for a Kanban initiative

Serhiy is a hands-on lean Agile transformation trainer and coach with a strong track record in driving and achieving sustained positive changes in the global companies as Philips, TomTom and Intel.

During his professional life Serhiy was holding numerous engineering and management positions and gained broad experience in Lean and Agile transformations, change management, strategy definition and execution, building and managing high-performance multidisciplinary distributed teams, definition and engineering of high scale new software and hardware products, outsourcing to Asia and Eastern Europe, supplier relationship management and intellectual property creation.

Serhiy holds MBA degree from the Nyenrode Business University, The Netherlands, Master degree "cum laude" in Applied Mathematics from the Lviv State University, Ukraine and a number of professional certifications: Accredited Kanban Trainer (AKT), Kanban Management Professional (KMP), Team Kanban Practitioner (TKP) from the Lean Kanban University, Lean 6 Sigma Green Belt, Project Management Professional (PMP) from the Project Management Institute, Certified SCRUM Master (CSM) and Certified Scrum Professional (CSP) from Scrum Alliance, PRINCE2 Foundation from the APM Group. Serhiy is an author or co-author of 19 published patents.
