Course descripton

Agile transformation is not possible without the management support. This 3-hours workshop teaches the managers what Agile actually is, basic Agile and servant leadership principles, Lean philosophy, Agile approaches like the Kanban Method and Scrum, and the role of manager during and after an Agile transformation. Managers learn the skills of Agile behavior, which questions to ask to and what to expect from the teams in an Agile environment.
We also discuss the Situational Leadership Theory, its applicability in an Agile context, relation to the maturity of organization, and the ways how to move the teams from good to great. Managers learn to distinguish the type of organization they are working in and apply proper Agile methodology depending on the organizational context.

Recommended follow-up trainings for manages: Kanban System Design (KMP I), and Kanban Management Professional (KMP II).

Team members are encouraged to follow the Introduction to Agile and Lean course, which is the extended team version of this training.

  • Obtain high-level understanding how the projects are planned and budgeted in an Agile environment
  • Know which Agile methodology to use depending on the organizational context
  • Be able to characterize the type of the team and organization they work with and apply proper leadership style

Serhiy is a hands-on lean Agile transformation trainer and coach with a strong track record in driving and achieving sustained positive changes in the global companies as Philips, TomTom and Intel.

During his professional life Serhiy was holding numerous engineering and management positions and gained broad experience in Lean and Agile transformations, change management, strategy definition and execution, building and managing high-performance multidisciplinary distributed teams, definition and engineering of high scale new software and hardware products, outsourcing to Asia and Eastern Europe, supplier relationship management and intellectual property creation.

Serhiy holds MBA degree from the Nyenrode Business University, The Netherlands, Master degree "cum laude" in Applied Mathematics from the Lviv State University, Ukraine and a number of professional certifications: Accredited Kanban Trainer (AKT), Kanban Management Professional (KMP), Team Kanban Practitioner (TKP) from the Lean Kanban University, Lean 6 Sigma Green Belt, Project Management Professional (PMP) from the Project Management Institute, Certified SCRUM Master (CSM) and Certified Scrum Professional (CSP) from Scrum Alliance, PRINCE2 Foundation from the APM Group. Serhiy is an author or co-author of 19 published patents.

Serhiy fluently speaks English, Dutch, Polish, Ukrainian and Russian languages and has basic knowledge of German and French languages.
